Leadership

The FCDS Student Council consists of elected representatives from each homeroom in grades five through eight. Traditionally, this group has been led by two ninth graders who are appointed by their peers for a one-half year term.
The Dean of Students serves as the faculty advisor to the Student Council. Members meet to discuss ideas and plan events with a goal of enriching and strengthening the overall program at FCDS.

What we do...

Community service projects, fundraisers, dances, no jacket and tie days, snack and lunch menu choices, and simple improvements to the physical plant are just some of the many topics which the Student Council addresses. The Student Council is truly a student-run organization and just one of the many opportunities that Fairfield Country Day School boys have to impact their school experience.

School Publications
School publications at FCDS offer a variety of opportunities for the boys to develop and practice their communication, organization, and leadership skills. While encouraging the refinement of their writing, they also stimulate involvement in school life.

The D-Blotter is a publication that morphed from the e-blotter which, since the adoption of school-wide computer use, was a daily publication. The D-Blotter is published daily and contains details of school and athletic activities and special events, menus, and other relevant information.

The Harvest is the annual publication that includes the best literary efforts of students in grades five through nine. Included in the Harvest are the winners of the Halloween and Holiday writing contests, arguments selected from the debate program, independently researched historical data, speeches from the eighth and ninth grade speech competition, and artwork.

The Blazer is the yearbook created by the eighth and ninth grade staff. The student editors and staff create, write, and edit the 140-page book, as well as design the cover and help with the photography.
