Grades 6-9 Math Teacher

Fairfield Country Day School––an all boys day school serving Grades K–9 in Fairfield, Connecticut––seeks a dedicated math teacher for grades 6-9. Candidates should have a passion for teaching, desire for collaboration and experience with middle school-aged students. The successful candidate will possess excellent teaching skills, a high level of energy and flexibility and a growth-oriented mindset. They will inspire and empower students by differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, fostering student agency, and implementing research-based strategies that support critical thinking and executive function skills. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated commitment to the tenets described in the School’s Inclusive Excellence vision statement. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential for building meaningful connections with students, families, and colleagues.  Additionally, the candidate will actively engage in professional learning communities, commit to curricular alignment, and ongoing professional development. 

Responsibilities
  • Teaches Grades 6-9 Math
    • Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II
  • Leverages relational teaching practices and best practices for engaging boys 
  • Serves as an Upper School (Grades 6–9) advisor
  • Collaborates collegially with Upper School faculty, participating in the life of the division beyond the math program
  • Communicates clearly and directly with boys, parents, and colleagues
  • In conjunction with the Student Success team, challenges and supports all learners through differentiation 
  • Maintains curriculum maps and utilizes student learning outcomes to assess and refine instructional practices for continuous improvement
  • Assists athletic program by coaching teams
  • Assists with co-curricular offerings
  • Participates in family-style dining program with boys
  • Proctors study halls
  • Supports the School’s mission, Honor Code, rules, and policies
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
