EDUCATOR ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
Shadow and Share Program
A faculty member shadows an FCDS student to gain a deeper understanding of what that boy’s day looks and feels like. The student and teacher will have an opportunity to connect and debrief on their shared experience and observations.  Not only will respectful relationships develop in this process, but students will witness that teachers themselves are always learning to improve their craft. Teachers benefit from walking away with a new perspective that may enhance and provide ideas to modify their own teaching practices. This program is an excellent opportunity for new faculty, and each participant’s insights will prove to be invaluable in strengthening our learning community.

PD in the Moment
It is easy to attend professional development workshops and walk away with a library full of research-based tips, strategies, and best practices. However, when it comes time to implement and apply these practices, it can be extremely challenging given the dynamic and diverse needs of students in any given classroom. Effectively executing and implementing these practices is harder than it looks.  PD in the Moment is a program where teachers can receive coaching from one of our team specialists who come into the classroom to observe, identify obstacles, brainstorm and work together to offer perspectives and feedback that can reduce challenges and improve faculty balance and wellness.

PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAMS:
Fireside Chats
A parent education and support program that occurs monthly.  We welcome parents and guardians to campus in the newly-designed Sullinger Center where The Boys Lab team provides information and strategy sessions surrounding specific topics, including the challenges that parents of boys face today.  It is a space for open dialogue where parents can share experiences or ask questions and specialists can offer guidance.

STUDENT PROGRAMS:
FCDS Findings
  • Throughout the year, interested K-9 students will have the opportunity to develop surveys, collect and analyze data, draw conclusions and create action plans on various issues important to them in the FCDS community.  Students have an opportunity to be leaders who seek to bring about change using a collaborative process with support and guidance from The Boys Lab.
  • A Meta-Moment is an FCDS Finding about one’s awareness about their thoughts.  We want to celebrate the metacognitive processes that boys will be experiencing throughout their journey with us.  We want them to model how powerful and helpful these metacognitive moments can be, and how useful it can be for other students.  “What works for me when…?” and “What did I notice when…?” are two driving questions that students will begin to uncover as they face academic and social challenges throughout their day.
