Lower School

Welcome to the Lower School

A boy’s early school experiences can shape his attitude toward future schooling. For this reason, we place the utmost importance on fostering a love of learning from his very first day.

KINDERGARTEN – GRADE 3
In their earliest years of school, we fully engage boys’ curiosity and imagination while upholding high expectations. We teach foundational phonics, reading, writing, math, science, social studies, Spanish, and technology, art and music. Boys are encouraged to learn from their teachers, their surroundings, and one another by moving around the classroom, experimenting, and working in small groups.

GRADES 4  –  5
Boys in Grades 4-5 learn reading, writing, math, science, social studies, Spanish, and technology, art and music with a focus on deeper inquiry and greater skill acquisition. We nurture boys’ rapid intellectual, social, and personal development by providing structure and executive function coaching. They also enjoy more privileges, greater responsibility, and leadership opportunities. These stepping-stone years prepare them well for the rigor and expectations of Upper School.
